I’m proud to share the release of Skilling as a Strategy, a Chegg Inc. report that highlights the career priorities, concerns, and ambitions of an often-overlooked section of the US labor force: frontline workers.
A few key findings:
Only 40% of the frontline workers we surveyed worked at companies that offered skills training.
70% said the ability to enroll in training at work is important for their professional development and career goal.
Even more — 74%— said employer-provided skills training was an important factor in choosing to work at their current company.
Our study suggests that skills training represents an opportunity to retain high-churn employee populations and fill job gaps if employers 1) understand the types of training their workforce is interested in and 2) consider training their existing workforce in future oriented jobs, like AI or analytics.
